Iowa Rivals Board says that Trent is looking to transfer. He's a Jr. this year but he's on line to graduate this spring or summer. Mac recruitted him out of high school. He's a 6'5" shootting guard.

Wants to be closer to home (Minnesota) to be near ailing Mom.

Can play right away. Would be EXACTLY what this team could use for next year. HOME RUN.
Either way, have a lot of respect for a player who graduates early (sounds like with honors too) and heads back home to be with his family. I will cheer for this kid no matter where he ends up!

i would think he and EW know each other pretty well - they're in the same class (unless locket redshirted) - and both from the MSP area....
i'd lean towards a PG - but this guy sounds like he'd be really good pickup.

I think we're good at PG; Lockett is the type of player that can put this team over the top. Heavy ties to Mac. Mac offered early on at ISU, and Doug played for Net Gain Sports, Lockett's AAU so you can be sure Mac is hitting up his former AAU coach.

43 schools called about Trent Lockett in the first hour after the national announcement. He is exploring his options at this time.
Minnesota, Iowa St, Iowa, UNI ??

This would be a huge get. Wing player who can score and rebound. Seems like a top notch person too. He can slide right into the 3 position and move Gibbs to the 2 or vice versa. Looks like Minnesota might be the logical choice but it looks like they are out of scholies according to this:
Lockett cannot have contact with other schools until he is officially released. The University of Minnesota would be ideal as far as location, but the Gophers don't have any open scholarships for next season. As it is, they would have to find an extra scholarship for injured senior Trevor Mbakwe if the NCAA grants him a sixth year of eligibility, in 2012-13.
That makes schools in Wisconsin, Iowa and Creighton the next closest choices....

i'm torn - a scoring/reb guard vs an experienced 1 and done PG that will push AC for PT...that's a coin flip for me...
this is where playing with doug and GE is HUGE though, IMO.
looking at all of the programs within easy driving distance to MSP.
it's us or Moo U for who went to the NCAAs (oh yeah and Wisky) - and i'm guessing royce white is gonna go pro - so playing on an NCAA team with a guy like Doug in front of 17k every home game - what more could a guy want?

Problem is are there any experienced 1 and done PG out there? Lockett is a really good player.

I just noticed that Chanse Creekmur is also transferring out of ASU. I know he was a kid we looked at pretty closely coming out of HS. I wonder if there would be any interest....
