Make BE tournament every year in a mid major baseball conference

Make NCAAs every 1/2 seasons out of those four - Swing away in NCAAs

has anyone put expectations above that?

Agree 100%. My expectations are to make the BE tournament every year. It is not a tough conference. We should be able to finish top 4. I am not expecting a CWS bid. But, you can't make the CWS if you don't even get into the NCAA tournament.

Mitch Moorman is out. That is the entire coaching staff.

What a disaster.

The one positive, the HC in waiting can and should assemble the staff and get the assistants he wants and won't have to let anyone go. It's the most positive I can spin this right now.

Could Ed hire the coach-in-waiting as an assistant and then they get promoted to HC the year after? Along with other assistant coaches?

Doing a farewell tour without a clear succession plan is certainly a choice.

This could be a strategy, but I don't know that I want Ed making any personnel decisions. This entire situation is a head scratcher. I'm a big fan of the AD but I can't wrap my head around the choices made here.

I think the plan was to honor Ed for all of years of service to Creighton and have him retire versus being terminated and this is how they worked it out. Whomever the coach-in-waiting will be will now hire all the assistants of his choice. I would hope that Ed would be more a figure head and not an actual decision maker for anything with players, staff, strategy from the day the CIW is hired until Ed steps down. Let the new person completely run the show, while Ed gets his flowers as the face of program next season.

This is the part I'm concerned about. Will Ed step away from decision-making? Will he actually let the HCIW hire the coaching staff? Maybe it's doomsdaying but what is going to happen when HC and HCIW disagree? Guess time will tell...

Nothing about who Ed Servais has been would lead me to believe he'd sign up for a "figurehead season." The staff hires would be one thing, but I have a hard time seeing him not being hands on and in control during the season.

I have to think that is part of the problem.

And I would think that M. Blossom would have laid out clear expectations to come back and not be let go. IMO, being the face/figurehead may was part of the stipulation.
