No surprise that Creighton swept BE awards this week.

Here's an RPI regular season's end simulation from a poster on Volley Talk.

Chances of a top 4 seed:
Pittsburgh - 100%
Nebraska - 98%
Louisville - 81%
Stanford - 53%
Texas - 22%
Wisconsin - 15%
Penn State - 17%
SMU - 5%
Creighton - 4%
Kansas - 4%
Kentucky - 2%
Purdue & Georgia Tech <1%

Top 16:
Pittsburgh - 100%
Nebraska - 100%
Louisville - 100%
Creighton - 100%
Stanford - 99%
Texas - 99%
Wisconsin - 99%
Penn State - 99%
Kansas - 97%
Arizona State - 95%
SMU - 90%
Kentucky - 85%
Purdue - 68%
Georgia Tech - 57%
Dayton - 45%
Florida - 45%
Oregon - 37%
TCU - 34%
Tennessee - 28%
Minnesota - 28%
Baylor - 24%
Florida State - 18%
USC - 15%
BYU - 10%
Marquette - 8%

The bad news is the BE conference schedule kills us while BIG, ACC, SEC, B12 teams get a boost from theirs. The good news, I guess, is that it's almost impossible for us not to host 1st and 2nd round.
Let's hope the BIG and ACC are bloodbaths, allowing us to tread water where we are.

The unbalanced BE schedule hurts us this year; specifically, playing UConn (12-0, RPI #47) only once, at home this weekend. Fortunately we play Marquette twice, as usual.

The non-con SOS rated higher than #5 Creighton were:
1. Texas
2. Louisville
3. Marquette
4. Wisconsin
"I want to beat (NU) so bad. This is a blue state...I’m a Creighton Bluejay. I’ve always wanted to go to Creighton...never really liked Nebraska...Creighton trusted me and Nebraska was just…out there...Can’t wait to play ’em..." ~Justin Patton

Same poster there just added this
"RPI Futures is an average RPI for the end of the season. Creighton could have a better RPI Futurers than Louisville, Stanford, Wisconsin, Texas, and Penn State - but the likelihood that someone from the B1G and/or ACC separates and finishes ahead of Creighton is very high, we just don't know which of those teams it will be.

This doesn't include the BE tournament potential, so Creighton's odds are probably a bit better than this. Plus - this assumes that Creighton has ~ a 75% chance of losing another match, so if we want to know what the potential is if Creighton wins out - then this % goes up some more. There also may be some scenarios where they get a #4 seed with a #5 RPI. I think they get at least a #4 seed with an RPI of #4 (or better) while winning the rest of their matches pretty much every time."

Yep, winning out would change the odds dramatically in our favor. The problem is that we've lost a couple BE games almost every year, and that's a killer. The Elite Eight team did go 18-0 in the BE, so it can be done.

Yes, many things would have to go just right in addition to winning out for Creighton to have a shot to host regionals, I was hoping for better from a couple of Creighton's non-conference opponents too. Kansas State is 2-7 and has an unofficial RPI of >200.

2022 San Diego went 27-1 with 2 top 10 RPI wins (Pitt & Ohio State) with their lone loss being at Louisville (#2 RPI) and they ended up with the # 5 overall seed. San Diego's RPI going into the selection show was #6.

2018 BYU had better luck. They went 27-1 with wins over #1, #10, and #15 RPI teams with their only loss being against LMU to end their regular season. They were 5th in RPI going into the selection show and received the #4 overall seed over Texas (#3 RPI)
